Why does Rehab matter?
If your horse has suffered and injury or illness, that affects their function and how they move, it is imperative we take the time to give their bodies a reset. Just like humans, after illness or injury we need to strengthen them, mobilise them and rewire the nervous system.
But, the right thing at the right time is key! And this is Rehab.
We know, first hand, how complex and difficult good rehab is for owners. But, well executed, thorough rehab can make such a difference with the outcome you want! At AEP, we are driven to improving the outcomes for owners and horses, so we have developed this foundation for your horse's rehab.
Rehab is not always linear, its a journey with twists and turns, and that is why our experienced integrated team are here to help you and your horse get through rehab!

FAQ
-
Does my insurance cover this rehab programme?
Depending on your insurance cover, rehab may be covered under complementary/alternative therapies.
-
Do I need to be a certain level of rider to be able to complete this?
No - we have designed these programmes to walk you step by step through the process of rehab. We do offer further support with rehab consultations or The Rehab Pathway.
-
How does this differ from the usual programmes given out by vets?
In the human world, once a GP, surgeon or doctor has investigated, diagnosed and treated, they often then hand over to physios to help full function to be restored. We model this with our approach. These programmes have been designed with Award Equine Physio, alongside your vet. We have a full body approach, focusing on elements that are often missed in usual rehab, so your horse has a better chance of recovery.

What if I miss a week?
Life happens, so if you miss a week, that is totally understandable. We advise that if you miss a full week, then you should go back and repeat the previous week before then moving onto the week missed. You will have access to the course for 16 weeks from the time you sign up. If you experience set backs during the rehab due to further vet treatment, illness or injuries, please reach out to us and we will pause the course for you until you're ready to resume it.

How does this work alongside my vet and usual physio?
This programme is not designed to replace your vet or physio. We have worked closely with your vet to create the programme, so be led by them if they wish you to repeat weeks. It is designed to be integrated into the veterinary care, providing the best outcome for your horse. Your physio can continue to treat your horse alongside this programme, and we are also available for rehab consultations, which allows us to ensure that you are making the progress expected, resolve any issues and check in with all the exercises.

“I have just completed a 3 month rehab plan with AEP for my dutch warmblood. He had some really complex issues & was not sure if he would come right. They have been AMAZING & I have got my horse back! He is the best he has been in 5 years”
“I can highly recommend the AEP rehab process to anyone who is unsure about committing. My horse was seen regularly by the team before we needed their additional support for his rehab in Spring this year. It’s been really helpful to have them see him regularly, working closing with the vets during the initial 12 weeks and beyond. We are going from strength to strength thanks to their planning, guidance, easy to follow exercise plans and regular appointments which has made my life as a working mum and one horse owner really straightforward.”
